Time, Fairness and Norms

Price for customers who want benefits now, punish unfair prices and copy people like them, without exploiting any of it.

Customers can prefer an immediate benefit while still needing clear information about its later cost. They also judge whether a price feels fair and whether a message about other people is relevant to them.

Design instant benefits and financing offers with the full cost visible. Explain pricing changes in concrete terms. Use truthful social comparisons with care, because different segments may respond in opposite directions.

Put it to work

Walk through an airtime-loan or pay-later screen and identify the total repayment, timing and fees. Separately review a social-norm message: confirm the number is true, define its audience and specify how you will detect an unwanted response.

A question to try

Would the customer understand the full cost and still regard the offer as fair?
